  • Ground-based observations of (65803) Didymos 2.5 years after the DART impact: searching for ongoing evolution
On 2022 September 26, NASA's DART mission intentionally impacted Dimorphos, the moon of near-Earth asteroid (65803) Didymos, changing the binary system's orbital period. The system was studied intensively from the ground over the ensuing months until February 2023 when its brightness and low solar elongation precluded further observations. These

  • Fuzzy dark matter fails to explain dark matter cores
Ultrafaint dwarf galaxies (UFDs) are ideal for studying dark matter (DM) due to minimal baryonic effects. UFD observations suggest cored DM profiles. We find that the core radius–stellar mass scaling predicted by fuzzy dark matter (FDM) is at 6 . 1 σ tension with UFD observations. Combining observations from 27 UFDs, the required FDM mass m a = 3

  • From atmospheres to exospheres in exoplanets
Interaction phenomena between atmospheric layers in planetary atmospheres give rise to highly complex exchanges influencing thermal structure, composition and dynamics. In particular, the question of hydrodynamic escape in exoplanet atmospheres is a key issue for quantifying the mass loss in these atmospheres. Short-period exoplanets subject to

  • First results ot the new ATLAS unit installed at Teide Observatory
We present the first results from ATLAS-Teide, the new unit of the Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System (ATLAS) installed by the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) at the Teide Observatory (Tenerife, Spain) in January 2025. ATLAS-Teide is part of the IAC's "Strategic Plan of the Canarian Observatories," supported by projects

  • Findings and Recommendations of the Apophis T-4 Years Workshop "Knowledge Opportunity for the Science of Planetary Defense"
The solar system small bodies community, having a dedicated interest in the planetary defense science opportunity presented by the exceedingly rare natural event of the large (340-meter) asteroid Apophis safely passing within 32,000 km of Earth on 2029 April 13, held a two-day Workshop at the University of Tokyo, April 9-10, 2025. • Fast X-ray transient EP240315A from a Lyman-continuum-leaking galaxy at z ≈ 5
The nature of the minute-to-hour-long fast X-ray transients localized by telescopes such as Chandra, Swift and XMM-Newton remains mysterious, with numerous models suggested for the events. Here we report multi-wavelength observations of EP240315a, a 1,600-s-long transient detected by the Einstein Probe, showing it to have a redshift of z = 4.859
