  • Atmospheric parameters and pulsational properties for a sample of δ Sct, γ Dor and hybrid Kepler targets
We report spectroscopic observations for 19 δ Sct candidates observed by the Kepler satellite both in long and short cadence mode. For all these stars, by using spectral synthesis, we derive the effective temperature, the surface gravity and the projected rotational velocity. An equivalent spectral-type classification has been also performed for

  • A Study of Gravitational Lens Chromaticity Using Ground-based Narrowband Photometry
We present observations of wavelength-dependent flux ratios for four gravitational lens systems (SDSS J1650+4251, HE 0435-1223, FBQ 0951+2635, and Q 0142-100) obtained with the Nordic Optical Telescope. The use of narrowband photometry, as well as the excellent seeing conditions during the observations, allows us to study their chromatic behavior

  • A multiwavelength approach to BD+53$^\circ$2790: the O9.5V counterpart to the X-ray binary system 4U~2206+54
The X-ray binary system 4U 2206+54 hides many mysteries. Among them, the surprising behavior of both of its components: the O9.5 dwarf star BD+53$^\circ$2790 and a slowly rotating neutron star. BD+53$^\circ$2790 misled the astronomers showing itself very likely as a Be star. However, a deeper spectral analysis and more intense monitoring, revealed

  • Variation in the frequency separations with activity and impact on stellar parameter determination
Frequency separations used to infer global properties of stars through asteroseismology can change depending on the strength and at what epoch of the stellar cycle the p-mode frequencies are measured. In the Sun these variations have been seen, even though the Sun is a low-activity star. In this paper, we discuss these variations and their impact

  • Using the EPOXI Mission to Measure the Dust Heterogeneity of Comet 103P/Hartley
The Deep Impact spacecraft will fly by comet 103P/Hartley on 4 Nov 2010 with a targeted closest approach distance of 700 km providing better than 50 m/pixel spatial resolution at the nucleus. In addition, comet 103P will fly by the Earth in October 2010 with a closest approach distance of 0.12 AU providing better than 100 km/arcsec resolution to
