Description
We performed an extensive observing programme on the zodiacal light with
ISOPHOT. The mapping of several ~0.5degx0.5deg
fields demonstrates the sub-percentage smoothness of the zodiacal light
brightness on arcminute scale. The analysis of 27 ISOPHOT-S spectra in
the 5-12μm range revealed blackbody-like spectral shapes with no
obvious spectral features. The derived temperatures increase with
ecliptic latitude and decrease with distance from the Sun in the range
of 260-290 K. New interesting results are expected from multifilter
photometry of the interplanetary dust cloud, and from observations of
the asteroidal bands as well as of a cometary dust trail.
