Description
The way in which the evaluation of any moment of the mass distribution,
as given by the Zeldovich (1970) approximation, may be reduced to the
computation of an integral is shown. A method for obtaining a two-point
correlation function from the product of the density fluctuation and the
Lagrangian coordinate is presented. Local approximations that, unlike
the Zeldovich one, allow for the nonlinear evolution an ellipsoid's axes
are considered. It is inferred that the use of nonlinear local
approximations could lead to a substantial improvement with respect to
the Zeldovich one in the prediction of those features of the mass
distribution related to regions with high density contrast, e.g.,
cluster densities.
