Description
When an exoplanet passes behind its host star, we can measure the time
of the occultation, its depth, and its color. In this chapter we
describe how these observables can be used to deduce physical
characteristics of the planet such as its averaged dayside emission,
departures from uniform disk illumination, or a precise measurement of
the orbital eccentricity. This technique became a reality in 2005; in
this chapter we describe the basics of the technique, its main results
in the last 12 years, and the prospects for the years to come. This
chapter includes a table with references to all published detections of
secondary eclipses until December 2017.

The principal objectives of this project are: 1) to study the structure and dynamics of the solar interior, 2) to extend this study to other stars, 3) to search for extrasolar planets using photometric methods (primarily by transits of their host stars) and their characterization (using radial velocity information) and 4) the study of the planetary

Exoplanets and Astrobiology
The search for life in the universe has been driven by recent discoveries of planets around other stars (known as exoplanets), becoming one of the most active fields in modern astrophysics. The growing number of new exoplanets discovered in recent years and the recent advance on the study of their atmospheres are not only providing new valuable
