The Canary Islands Institute of Astrophysics reinforces its commitment to scientific and cultural dissemination by participating in the literary event held in La Palma from September 22 to 27

The Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) renews its collaboration with the Spanish-American Writers’ Festival, which celebrates its seventh edition this year from September 22 to 27 in Los Llanos de Aridane, on the island of La Palma. This participation is part of the IAC's ongoing commitment to scientific and cultural outreach, connecting the world of astrophysics with literature and humanistic thought.

The festival will bring together around 50 Spanish and Latin American writers, including 20 authors from the Canary Islands, in a program that includes more than 40 literary events. The program includes themed round tables, book signings, and activities specially designed for young audiences.

The highlight of the IAC's collaboration will take place on Thursday, September 25, when several guest writers will visit the Roque de los Muchachos Observatory (ORM). This experience will be complemented in the afternoon by a round table discussion that has already become an emblematic event of the festival, where the authors will share their impressions after visiting one of the most important astrophysical complexes in the world.

On this occasion, poet Acerina Cruz, novelist Javier Hernández Velázquez, novelist Irene Gracia, and writer Miguel Ángel Hernández will converse with Juan Carlos Pérez Arencibia, Doctor of Physical Sciences and former administrator of the ORM.

The Spanish-American Writers’ Festival is managed by the non-profit association Orden Galdosiana de la Isla de La Palma and has the institutional support of the Department of Culture of the City Council of Los Llanos de Aridane, the Department of Culture of the Island Council of La Palma, the Government of the Canary Islands, AECID, and the Cervantes Institute.

In addition to the IAC, the festival is supported by prestigious institutions such as ASALE (Association of Spanish Language Academies), the Miguel de Cervantes Virtual Library, the Ortega y Gasset Foundation, and Casa de América, consolidating its position as a cultural benchmark in the Spanish-American sphere.
