The Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) and the Museum of Science and the Cosmos (MCC) of Museums of Tenerife, have produced the astronomical calendar “100 Square Moons” for 2019 which can be consulted and downloaded in digital format.
The majority of its images, taken with the Astrógrafo STC (Sky Treasurese Chest) at the Teide Observatory (Izaña, Tenerife), are part of an eduational exhibition which is an introduction to the universo using the Moon as a unit of measure. This explains the title “100 Square Moons” and initiative of the Unit of Communication and Scientific Culture (UC3) of the IAC, coordinated by the astrophysicist Alfred Rosenberg as part of the project “NIÉPCE: from the negative to the positive2. This project pays tribute to the inventor Joseph Nicéphore Niépce and to Photography in its 200th anniversary for his great contribution to the advance of astronomy.
This calendar is additional to the calendar in poster format illustrated with the image of the open stellar cluster the Pleyades (M45) also obtained with the STC Astrograph.
