This grant is aimed at providing the IAC with the necessary equipment to have a leading optical laboratory to support and enable the necessary developments for all the future projects at IAC, moreover the creation of a production centre for optical elements up to 40-45 cm in diameter, which represents a first stage of development that aims to develop, research and produce large optical elements for astronomical use.    

Together these actions represent the creation of a unique facility in Spain, with capacities that are within the reach of very few institutions and companies in the world and will significantly increase the IAC's role in frontier projects for telescopic installations and instrumentation.
