Due to the execution of renovation works on the underground medium voltage line that run strictly along the existing road inside the Observatory, the section of the LP403 road will be affected from the junction at km 1.4.
The Roque de los Muchachos Observatory, which depends on the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias, informs that, having assessed the evolution of the improvement and renovation works of the underground medium voltage line and digital communications that have been developed in recent weeks, from today a temporary cut will be effective that will affect the general circulation of vehicles.
The closure will correspond to a section of the LP403 road with sharp bends and a narrow carriageway from pk1.4 onwards in order to ensure traffic safety.
This temporary closure will be effective from Monday 19 June until 14 July, Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 1pm and from 3.30pm to 6pm. Weekends and public holidays will not be subject to these restrictions.
During the hours not affected by the closure, traffic will be regulated by traffic lights or signalling devices, with intermittent closures.
These restrictions may vary depending on the progress of the works, which will be communicated in due course.
Given the difficulty of the work, which affects at least one lane of the road on this stretch of road, it will not be possible for large vehicles (buses and similar) to circulate during this period.
The Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias apologises for the inconvenience caused to visitors by these works, which are essential for the future of the Observatory.
