The purpose of this Memorandum of Understanding is for the Parties to explore the design, development, construction, deployment and operation of the NRT as a programme under the joint leadership of the Parties. The implementation of any works resulting from the discussions under this Memorandum of Understanding shall be separately negotiated and determined by all the Parties in formal legal agreements, which will include teaching, public engagement, research and development activities.
The intention is that NRT shall consist of
In the Canary Islands: the observatory, including telescope and all scientific and technical infrastructures and supporting facilities that are necessary to operate and maintain the telescope and its instrumentation.
In Liverpool: the science and archive centre, including all facilities to collect, analyse, curate and archive all data resulting from the observatory.
In Asturias: A backup archive centre, including the facilities necessary to store, analyse, process and archive, at least, all the information resulting from the percentage of observation tÍme assigned.
